In conjunction with the recent and upcoming reopenings of three Pokémon Centers—Tohoku on 14 March 2025, Hiroshima on 11 April, and Fukuoka on 27 June—three Special Boxes (one for each of the Pokémon Centers) will be released in honor of the occasion.
About the Pokémon Center Special Boxes
Each of the three Special Boxes include 64 card sleeves, a deck box, a card storage box, and most excitingly of all, an all-new promotional card. The promotional cards all feature Pikachu and are named “Tohoku’s Pikachu”, “Hiroshima’s Pikachu”, and “Fukuoka’s Pikachu” respectively as nods to the locations of the Pokémon Centers in question.
Interestingly, although these will be the first Hiroshima’s Pikachu and Fukuoka’s Pikachu cards, the Tohoku’s Pikachu card will be the second. The first Tohoku’s Pikachu card was released in 2017 as part of the SM-P Promotional Cards. In addition, though it wasn’t named “Fukuoka’s Pikachu”, a Pikachu card linked to Pokémon Center Fukuokawas launched as part of the DP-P Promotional Cards in 2008.
Each of the three promotional cards depicts Pikachu in a setting that directly references the cultural heritage of the specific region of Japan where the related Pokémon Center is located. Each card also has its respective Pokémon Center’s logo on its right side.
